INTERCAT, THE ERASMUS+ PROJECT ON ACCESSIBLE AND SUSTAINABLE TOURISM

INTERCAT is a Project, coordinated by the Italian organisation New Horizons, that aims to develop a learning methodology that includes best practices in education for students and professionals in the accessible and sustainable tourism sector. INTERCAT has 4 other international partners, in addition to its coordinator, and has been one of the European projects funded under the Erasmus+ programme in the “Strategic Partnerships for Vocational and Educational Training” modality.

The project will be implemented over a period of two years with the aim of training professionals in the tourism sector in accessibility and sustainability. To this end, the INTERCAT project will identify best practices in accessible tourism training in the 5 project countries and adapt existing learning methods with an innovative approach through the DIATool – Destination Image Analysis Tool. This tool will be key to analyse the different local characteristics, new trends and technological responses to include Accessible Tourism and Circular Tourism in the General Tourism Development Strategy.

The project consortium includes the Italian association New Horizons as coordinator and as partners, the Universitat Jaume I-Empresa Foundation (FUE-UJI), the organisations Ergasia Ekpaideftiki Anonomi Etairia (Greece), Previform Laboratory, Training, Hygiene and Labor Safety, Lda (Portugal) and Ecological Future Education (Latvia).
